Only 80 of 168 countries have managed to meet 100% of the % commitments of this agreement.

dentro edwinSANTO DOMINGO.- The National Trade Facilitation Committee (CNFC) reported on its notification to the World Trade Organization (WTO) of the 100% achievement of the goals the country committed to during the Bali Ministerial Conference in 2013.

This took place during the twentieth plenary session of the CNFC, the executive branch of our country's management actions to comply with these measures, held at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Customs (DGA).

This compliance, which has been published in the web WTO official, is a milestone for the Dominican Republic in terms of international trade, given that this organization is the highest global regulator in this regard.

"As a team, we are honored by all the efforts made, as well as by the incredible partnership we have forged between the public and private sectors," said Customs Director Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, in his capacity as president of the CNFC.

To date, only 80 of 168 countries have fully complied with the WTO commitments of this agreement.

For his part, Edwin De los Santos, president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR), stated that the CNFC has been an example of efficiency and collaboration that has achieved significant progress in promoting logistics in the Dominican Republic.

"This achievement is the result of the hard work of the CNFC, the first public-private partnership, which has been recognized by other trade facilitation committees in other countries as one of the most effective in the region," said the president of AMCHAMDR, the organization that serves as the CNFC's secretariat.

Meanwhile, Perla De la Rosa, also representing AMCHAMDR, officially announced the completion of the 100th % of the agreement and recalled that the CNFC will continue developing a work agenda based on the committee's strategic plan, which extends through 2026. Currently, the CNFC is managing 38 projects that are part of the continuity plan.

“As we reach 100 years of %'s commitment to this agreement, we thank everyone involved in this successful working group, the public and private sectors, business associations, and state institutions. Without your support and dedication, this would not have been possible,” said De la Rosa.

The Dominican Republic ranks sixth in Latin American countries in terms of compliance efficiency, joining Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Costa Rica as the top performers in the region.

In Latin America, only 8 of the 33 signatory countries have fully complied with the % agreement.
