Following the announcement that the ICT Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) will soon launch the "Practical Guide to Starting Your Business Online," multiple concerns have arisen regarding the topics the document will address, its target audience, and how companies can embrace the digital transformation.

To answer these questions, María Waleska Álvarez, president of the AMCHAMDR ICT Committee, stated that the Guide represents an opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and expand their sales to new markets that are not physically accessible.

"Out of every crisis, opportunities always emerge. The 'Practical Guide to Starting Your Business Online' will allow users to jump on the digital transformation bandwagon and integrate disruptive business models into their companies," he said.

During an interview on the radio program "Esto no tiene nombre," hosted by Roberto Cavada, Miralba Ruiz, and José (Pinky) Pintor, Álvarez emphasized that the Guide was developed by a group of e-commerce experts from the ICT Committee, who have shared their experiences in setting up their businesses on online platforms.

He revealed that the document, written in practical and straightforward language, presents best practices and experiences adopted by local experts who have succeeded in e-commerce and, at the same time, seeks to demystify the idea that digital transformation is expensive and inaccessible.

While acknowledging that small, medium, and large organizations face different challenges in ensuring the success of digital transformation, Álvarez acknowledged that efforts must focus on ensuring that human talent has access to comprehensive training in their digital skills.

“Continuing education so that all company employees strengthen their digital skills must be a priority for organizations,” he stated, adding that today, more than ever, companies must embrace digital transformation processes as part of their business to maintain their position in the market.
