The American Chamber of Commerce announced David Fernández as its new president, after being elected at the Ordinary General Assembly held on April 11.
Santo Domingo, April 11, 2017. The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic elected a new president at its Ordinary General Assembly held on April 11. David Fernández was elected to lead the organization's Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 term.
Fernández, a highly regarded financial and accounting consultant who also serves on the Board of Directors of major national companies, has been part of AMCHAMDR's corporate governance since 2001.
The organization is currently implementing a new value proposition for its members, focused on fostering greater and better business opportunities and representing them before government agencies to ensure the transparency and appropriateness of bilateral trade dynamics.
After his election was announced, Fernández emphasized his vision of continuing to strengthen the Dominican Republic's historic commercial ties with the United States and working to create an investment climate that attracts new capital to the country.
Along with David Fernández (of CxO Consulting), the following were selected as members of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors: Roberto Herrera (Interenergy Holdings) and Ramón Ortega (PricewaterhouseCooper) as vice presidents; Ricardo Pérez (Hanes Caribe Inc.) as treasurer; and Edwin De Los Santos (AES Dominicana) as secretary.
David Fernández is the son of Eduardo Fernández, who was the first Dominican president of AMCHAMDR in the mid-1970s and who, among his many contributions, instituted the Chamber's luncheons.
