The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) held a meeting with the media on Wednesday to inform them about its thirtieth (30th) anniversary celebration, agenda, and other details about Dominican Week in the United States.
On behalf of AMCHAMDR, and to share details about Dominican Week, Roberto Herrera, president of the Chamber and Dominican Week, commented that the event, which will take place in Washington, DC, and New York from September 26 to 30, is a mission to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the United States and the Dominican Republic. Also present were William Malamud, Executive Vice President, and Steven Puig, president of the Board of the Bilateral Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic.
"The goal is to create a favorable business environment through contact with government institutions, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, and Dominicans in the diaspora," Herrera added.
The thirtieth anniversary of Dominican Week will focus on the positioning of the Dominican Republic as a platform for tourism, health, relations with the Biden administration, renewable energy, and hub logistical and nearshoring.
For 30 years, a delegation of business leaders, academics, and government officials has traveled to the United States to participate in meetings that bring together diplomats, U.S. government officials, business executives, the Dominican diaspora, and other Dominican-connected counterparts to share ideas, projects, and proposals to foster the growth of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Dominican Week's history has seen its delegation participate in some of the most important milestones in the Dominican Republic's commercial history, including the DR-CAFTA agreement.
Following the thirtieth edition of the meeting, it is expected that the next Dominican Week meetings will revolve around topics of digital transformation, zero bureaucracy, the consolidation of hub regional logistics and the nearshoring.
