The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) urges amendments to Bill 225-20 on Solid Waste, recently approved by the Senate, with the goal of achieving a balance between environmental sustainability and economic viability.
While AMCHAMDR recognizes the importance and complexity of this legislation in promoting environmentally sustainable growth in the country, it emphasizes that its implementation should not compromise the economic sustainability of the private sector.
"We are convinced that, through a more inclusive dialogue with the private sector, it is possible to design a bill that effectively combines environmental and economic objectives.", the institution highlighted in an official statement.
The Chamber expressed its satisfaction with the recent statements by Alfredo Pacheco, President of the Chamber of Deputies, who acknowledged the concerns raised by the private sector and assured that the review process will be more deliberative and participatory.
AMCHAMDR reiterates its commitment to working together to build a regulatory framework that promotes environmental sustainability while ensuring the country's economic competitiveness, for the benefit of all sectors.
